School Readiness

When a child is born we don’t often think about their first day of kindergarten or graduating from high school.  But consider the fact that 80% of a child’s brain develops from birth to age three!  During this time parents have a very important role in determining their child’s later success in school and life.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Read 1000 books before kindergarten! Come to any Allegan County public library, pick up your reading log to track the first 100 books, then READ.  

​After you complete your first 100 books reading log from our library, bring the log to the library, earn a sticker, and receive a 1,000 Books book bag. You'll also receive the reading log for next 100 books.

​When you finish the program – 1,000 books, your child will receive a certificate of completion and a free t-shirt.
