Administrators Announce Retirement

Wayland Union High School Principal, Tom Cutler and Wayland Union Middle School  Assistant Principal/MS Athletic Director, T.J. Restau, announced their plans to retire at the end of this  school year. 

Cutler has been with the district since 1999 where he was the Assistant Principal under Jack Deming for three years. He has been the Principal at Wayland Union High School since 2002. Cutler also spent eight years in Holton Public Schools prior to coming to Wayland. He has served a total of 32 years in public education. 

Cutler stated, “I would like to thank the District and the Board of Education for the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community of Wayland Union Schools. What a privilege it has been to work within the walls of Wayland Union High School for the past 20 years. I am looking forward to my upcoming retirement, spending quality time with my family, traveling, and other leisure time activities. I will truly miss working with our Administrative team and staff and the wonderful work environment I was fortunate enough to work in for all of these years.” 

T. J. Restau was hired in 2017 as the Assistant Principal/MS Athletic Director for the middle school. Previously he was the Assistant Principal at Wyoming Public Schools for 15 years and was a teacher prior to holding that  position. He has served in public education for 30 years. 

Dr. Hinds, Wayland Union Schools Superintendent, states, “The search for our next High School Principal and Middle School Assistant Principal/Athletic Director will begin in the spring. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work alongside Mr. Cutler and Mr. Restau. I wish them the very best in their retirement. Thank you for your service to the Wayland Union Schools community!”

Both retirements will be effective on June 30, 2022.
