What is Head Start Preschool?

  • Federally funded preschool for children that are three or four years old by September 1
  • Must meet certain income guidelines
  • Free program
  • Transportation may be provided
  • Meals and snacks are provided
  • School year runs September into June
  • Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline are taught
  • Each family has a Family Advocate for additional support

  • Learning through play and hands on activities
  • Kindergarten readiness skills
  • Social and emotional skills
  • Small and large motor skills
  • Child directed and teacher directed activities
  • Small and large group times
  • Outside time daily
  • Positive teacher and child interactions
  • Family activities and support
  • Communication between school and family is essential
