Evie Mathis is National Pole Vault Champion

Evie Mathis, an incoming freshman at WUHS, attended the Adidas Outdoor Track Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina on Saturday, June 18,2022.  She competed in the Middle School Pole Vault event of the competition and came in 1st Place.  She cleared 3.63 meters, which translates into 11 feet, 11 inches, one inch below her personal best of 12 feet. She has spent virtually all of her eighth grade season ranked No. 1 in the pole vault nationwide. She is the Adidas Outdoor National Middle School Girls Pole Vault Champion!  She is the daughter of Rick and Cindy Mathis of Wayland. Congratulations Evie!
