NEH Landmark Workshop
This July Mrs. Foster, a 6th grade science teacher at our middle school, was fortunate to be chosen to attend the NEH Landmark Workshop: Space Age on the Space Coast. Mrs. Howell, one of her 6th grade colleagues, attended last year and encouraged Mrs. Foster to apply. Mrs. Foster described the experience as being "absolutely amazing, jaw-dropping, inspirational, educational & humbling!" Some of the highlights of her 5-day stay were learning about the history of the area, space and technology; meeting 2 shuttle astronauts & a shuttle launch director; getting behind the scene tours the general pubic doesn’t get, learning about the delicate ecosystems along the coast, doing a bioluminescence tour, and seeing rare historical artifacts. On top of all of that, Mrs. Foster enjoyed the experience with other amazing educators from ALL over our country.
Wayland Union Schools is thrilled to see our educators embrace unique opportunities to expand their education during summer break. It's never too late to learn something new, Wildcats!
