26th Annual Veterans Day Assembly

Veterans saluting American Flag
Student reading during assembly

On November 11th, Pine Street Elementary staff and students had the opportunity to stand united in gratitude for the brave individuals who have served in our armed forces. The assembly began with students, who are involved with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, escorting the color guard into the ceremony. In addition, 14 of our 5th grade students were invited to read a portion of their essay describing what a veteran means to them. The top essay writer was also asked to recite the poem “In Flanders Fields.” The 26th annual Veterans Day Assembly also included the placing of the V.F.W. wreath, the POW/MIA ceremony, awards, flag folding, and the playing of Taps. Wayland Union Schools is honored to have the opportunity to recognize those who have served in our community. We thank you for your sacrifice.
