Busy Bees

Student with bee hive

Students in Bee Club started installing their OWN BEES into the hives that they will manage for the next few years. Their four hives all survived the winter, and they have been very busy breaking up their large colonies into smaller ones, which will grow into learning experiences for all students. Bee Club has added 9 new hives, helping the bees create new homes and queens for their colonies. Thanks to the WUEA, they have new hive stands and a new storage shed on the way! Their summer will be very busy managing the new hives, in preparation for a large honey season (hopefully) next summer.

Fun Fact: Did you know that honey bees only live about 6 weeks in the busy summer months? Winter bees are fatter and can live up to 6 months!
