Baker Elementary Preschool

Community Preschool - 3 & 4 years

Preschool student with playdoughPreschool plays an important role in a young child’s growth and development. Preschool is a time when children  sing, play, establish friendships and learn about their world. Children learn socialization skills that are important for future peer relationships. They learn rules and limits in relation to their surroundings.

Our teachers introduce alphabet letters using the same methods used in Young Fives and Kindergarten using the Handwriting without Tears curriculum. Children learn what letters are in their name and will begin to write their names. Children learn about numbers and counting. They learn to cut, paste and paint.

Extended Day Preschool focuses on pre-reading skills, letter recognition, and letter sounds using the Handwriting without Tears curriculum. We introduce early math skills, counting and number recognition, shapes and colors. Extended Day preschoolers go outside to play, have a rest period each day, eat lunch in the cafeteria, and visit the library and gym.

Wayland Union Schools is offering discounted preschool tuition rates for WUS residents due to revenue from the Gun Lake Casino.
