National Speaker, David Edward Garcia, Brings Comedy and Inspiration to Wayland Community

Wayland, MI - On Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 7 pm, top youth speaker David Edward Garcia will visit Wayland Union High School Fine Arts Center to bring a message of inspiration and encouragement to the Wayland Community.

Garcia will share a powerful story of overcoming adversity, going from an “at-risk student” on the Texas-Mexico border to earning three college degrees, learning five languages, and traveling to six continents. 

Like many cities across America, our community has experienced a wide range of mental health challenges - from anxiety and depression to other behavioral, social, and emotional struggles. Many of these issues have been amplified during the time of the pandemic.

The goal of the event is to therefore support and empower community members to live safe, healthy, and successful lives. Audience members will learn the skills they need to stay positive and focused when faced with life challenges and sudden plot twists - from self-awareness to boundary-setting, healthy coping skills, and how to seek help.

David is a long-time advocate for children’s mental health and now champions the call to help students and educators arrive at total well-being. The events of 2020 and 2021 taught us that health could not be compartmentalized into: physical, mental, educational, or financial health. Health and wholeness are all comprehensive. Following David’s signature pattern of half standup/half inspiration / ALL POSITIVE, he openly shares how the pain in his journey granted him power, because difficulty does not mean impossible. From failing multiple classes to teaching seven different subjects in public schools, he shows his audience how they can find their genius and build their successful life.
