Alumni Spotlight - Luke Stein
Meet Luke Stein, a proud Wayland Union Schools graduate from the Class of 1987.
After high school, Luke went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1991. Today, he works as a Retirement Plan Administrator for a large Michigan-based CPA (certified public accountant) and advisory firm.
In addition to his professional career, Luke recently turned his creativity into entrepreneurship by launching a Michigan-themed trivia game, Yoopers & Trolls. Within its first year, the game shipped to 32 states and quickly moved into a second production run. Even more special, Luke included a nod to Wayland in the game, recognizing his hometown as an important part of his story.
“Although I graduated nearly 40 years ago,” Luke shared with a nod to MTV, “the strong work ethic and practical problem-solving skills I learned at Wayland Union Schools have stayed with me.” While he jokes that his acid-wash jeans and ill-advised mullet are best left in the past, his appreciation for his time at Wayland remains strong.
Luke’s connection to the district continues through his family with both of his daughters being Wayland graduates. Now successful, motivated adults, they’re making a positive impact in their own ways (and thankfully, skipping the mullet phase!).
