Alumni Spotlight - DJ Rottier

DJ Rottier Alumni Spotlight

Meet DJ Rottier, a proud Wayland Union Schools graduate from the Class of 1999. After graduating from Wayland, DJ attended the Diesel Technology Program at the University of Northwestern Ohio, where he completed his training in 2001.

Following graduation, DJ began his career with JX Truck Center (formerly Dermody). This summer, he will celebrate 25 years with the company. DJ started as a technician and steadily worked his way up through several leadership roles, including Assistant Service Manager, Service Manager, and Regional Service Manager. Today, he serves as Operations Manager for all five Michigan locations.

Through his strong technical expertise and work ethic, DJ played a key role in opening the company’s Kalamazoo location, helping drive its early growth and performance. His leadership during this time helped position him for continued advancement within the organization.

In his current role, DJ oversees all aspects of branch operations across Michigan. His responsibilities include improving operational efficiency, leading safety and compliance initiatives, managing profitability, developing team leaders, and ensuring consistent execution of company processes.

When reflecting on his time at Wayland, DJ credits one class in particular for helping shape his career path. “Wayland’s auto shop class introduced me to careers in the automotive and skilled-trades industry,” DJ shared.

Wayland students, if you’re interested in pursuing a career in the automotive or skilled-trades industry, DJ encourages you to reach out and learn more about the field. He can be contacted at drottier@jxe.com.
