Alumni Spotlight - Heidi Wolf

Meet Heidi Wolf, a proud Wayland Union Schools graduate from the Class of 1987. After high school, Heidi attended the University of Detroit, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She continued her education at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctorate.

After passing the bar in 1994, Heidi launched her law practice from her parents’ dining room right here in Wayland. Today, she leads Wolf Law Group, PC in Allegan and is currently the firm’s sole attorney. Over the years, several accomplished legal professionals have worked under her mentorship, including Emily Jipp, now a Circuit Court Judge for Allegan County; Amy Clapp, now serving Mecosta and Osceola Counties; and Laurie Tange, current Administrator for the 57th District Court.

In addition to her work as an attorney, Heidi has been a dedicated small business owner in Allegan County for more than 30 years, at times employing up to six additional staff members, including two attorneys. She has played a key role in shaping local justice initiatives, helping develop the county’s Mental Health Treatment Court and serving as its attorney for several years. She also developed the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program used by Safe Harbor, including writing the bylaws and training manual, and recruiting and training the very first CASA volunteers.

Reflecting on her time at Wayland Union Schools, Heidi shares that she always felt supported by her teachers and staff. She credits Mr. Kerley, her debate teacher, for allowing her to pursue an independent study so she could fit both debate and forensics into her schedule. “The fundamentals I learned in debate have served me well over my 30 years as an attorney,” she explained. She was also honored to be selected as one of two female students to attend the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State, an experience she describes as invaluable in shaping her future.

“I would not be where I am today without my teachers, the administration, and my guidance counselor,” Heidi stated.
