Reading Month Author Visit

Michigan Author, Robbyn Smith van Frankenhuyzen visited Dorr, Baker, Steeby, and Pine Street Elementary. Robbyn has written five books which include Adopted by an Owl: The True Story of Jackson the Owl. Her husband Nick is the illustrator for her books. Robbyn talked to students about her love of animals, storytelling and writing. The students were mesmerized by her stories of rehabilitating animals on Hazel Ridge Farm with her family. Robbyn stressed the importance of making a hobby you love your job. She also shared the cabin journals her family wrote that lead to the books her and her husband created together.
