Please join us in congratulating Jordyn Sturgeon on her new role as Director of Virtual and Hybrid Programs!

Jordyn Sturgeon received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where she was born and raised. She recently earned her Educational Leadership Certificate and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership at Central Michigan University, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2027.

Ms. Sturgeon has served as a fifth-grade English Language Arts teacher at Pine Street Elementary for the past two years. Prior to joining Wayland Union Schools, she taught third grade at Kelloggsville Public Schools and second grade in Omaha, Nebraska.

Outside the classroom, Ms. Sturgeon is deeply involved in the local softball community. For the past two years, she has served as the Wayland Youth Softball Organization (WYSO) Middle School Softball Director and Coach. She says coaching has become one of her favorite ways to stay connected with the community while supporting and mentoring young athletes.

In her free time, Ms. Sturgeon enjoys spending time outdoors by camping, relaxing at the beach, and going for walks. She also loves playing softball and other sports, traveling, trying new restaurants and cuisines, watching college softball, cheering on the Detroit Lions, and catching up on a good movie or TV series. This summer, she even challenged herself to explore new book genres, and encourages others to do the same!

Reflecting on her new role, Ms. Sturgeon shared, "I am honored to continue serving the Wayland community and help grow WAVE into a program where students feel connected, supported, and challenged." She is especially excited about the opportunities WAVE provides by offering students another pathway to achieve success.

"Every student's journey is unique, and success doesn't always follow a traditional path," she said. "I look forward to supporting students and families, building meaningful relationships, and helping every learner find a path to success."
