Meet Pine Street Elementary's New Assistant Principal

Please join us in welcoming Abigail Merchant as the new Assistant Principal at Pine Street Elementary!

A proud Wayland alumna, Abigail is excited to return to the community that helped shape her educational journey. She earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Central Michigan University, followed by a Master's degree in Educational Leadership.

This school year marks Abigail's ninth year in education. Throughout her career, she has taught multiple grade levels and most recently served as a Special Education Coordinator and Consultant, supporting students, teachers, and schools in creating meaningful learning opportunities for all.

Outside of school, Abigail enjoys golfing, spending time with family and friends, and being with her dog, Mulligan.

"I look forward to building strong relationships with students, partnering with teachers and staff, and working alongside families to create a positive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. I am eager to contribute to a culture of excellence, support innovative teaching and learning, and help foster a school community where everyone feels valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential."
